Visitor Visa

Visitor Visa

A visitor visa, also known as a temporary resident visa (TRV), is a document that allows a foreign national to visit Canada for a specific purpose, such as tourism, visiting friends or family, or business, for a limited period of time. In order to obtain a visitor visa, a foreign national must first apply online or by mail, along with the required documents and fees.

The required documents may include a valid passport or travel document, proof of financial support, and a letter of invitation from a host in Canada (if applicable). The foreign national may also be required to undergo a medical examination and provide proof of medical insurance.

The processing time for a visitor visa application can vary depending on a variety of factors, including the location of the applicant, the volume of applications being processed, and the completeness of the application.

Once the visitor visa is issued, the foreign national is typically allowed to enter Canada for a specified period of time, which is usually up to six months. The length of time that the foreign national is allowed to stay in Canada is indicated on the visitor visa and on the entry stamp that is placed in the foreign national’s passport upon arrival in Canada.
